Honestly, if there's one universal language, french fries would be it, wouldn't it?
Right towards the end of my Italy trip, I got the opportunity to go to a part of France I didn't manage to visit when I lived in Paris: the French Riviera.
I KNOW. How fancy am I, guys? The French Riviera! It was really an unplanned, spur-of-the-moment decision.
I mean — the French Riviera, guys. Ahhhhhhh.
I knew the place is all about their sandy beaches, blue seas and sunny weather so I wanted to dress accordingly. Comfort was my priority; I was going to do a lot of walking under the hot sun so whatever I wore has to be breezy enough.
But then I obviously wanted to look cute for the photo ops too — surprise surprise — so I was glad I had this polka dot suit. Thankfully I brought my old "Venezia" wide-brimmed straw hat from Malaysia as well, or else I would've had a great tan line on my forehead from my hijab — the hat which, FYI, was not purchased on the Venice visit from this trip but bought wayyy back in August last year when I wore the black mesh dress.
(The hat has a little rip in it now from all the folding + stuffing in back, but hey, it's lasted this long!)
I thought it was only too appropriate to wear my "I Speak French Fries" t-shirt with the polka dot blazer and palazzo pants to the French Riviera as well — a little cheeky and tongue-in-cheek, wouldn't you say?
Another great first-time-wear addition: my polka dot pointy black booties. At this point, I wonder if would anyone be surprised if I fully embraced the polka-dot madness and wore a polka dot t-shirt instead?
(In this hypothetical outfit, I'd still keep my hijab plain, of course, I'm not that insane.)
From Milan, we stayed overnight at Arenzano before embarking on our crazy full-packed day, getting to visit not only Cannes and Nice but Monaco as well! Italy in the morning, France in the afternoon, and Monaco in the evening — crazy, I tell ya. We were on a lot of train rides that day but surprisingly, thank God, everything went smoothly without a hitch.
Honestly, I don't know if Shah and I would ever be in THREE countries in ONE day ever again, so this was truly an unforgettable experience.
These photos were taken at a gorgeous square in Nice; Shah and I really had so much to see and do that we snapped my outfit shots as quickly as possible! I didn't take a lot of photos on my camera but there are loads of pics on my iPhone and Shah's. I love blogging about the places I've visited on Affordorable for my own reference (and reminiscing) in the future so I might dedicate a post on our crazy trip soon.
Thank you for reading you beauties, I hope you like this outfit as much as I do!

Wearing: Topshop polka dot blazer | Topshop polka dot palazzo pants | Zara striped bag | Zara polka dot booties
Your darling polka dots are perfect for the "spot" you chose to take your pictures Liyana. I'd say that the French Riviera is one of the most exotic, fantasy locations in Europe and I love the fact that you chose to have a sense of calm and a light heart about your look of the day.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the birthday wishes Liyana. Also, your compliments regarding my younger than 67 appearance are so sweet of you. Keep wearing your sun protection and hats my dear Liyana!! Love, Jude
I sincerely wish to be as healthy, fit and vibrant in spirit when I reach your age, Judy! <3 <3 <3
DeleteI certainly didn't imagine to visit the French Riviera this soon. The place was so beautiful, and I hope to visit it again in the future.
