I used to do similar "What Happened Recently" posts with the intention of making it a series but it's been forgotten until now! I feel like it's a chance for me to share some relatively more personal/intimate tidbits about myself on this blog.
Let's get on with it, shall we?
1.
The holy month of Ramadhan is here, so wishing Ramadhan Mubarak to my Muslim readers ❤. I hope those who are fasting are coping well — make sure you sahur every day!
(Note: If you aren't sure what sahur or suhur is, Wikipedia = best friend.)
PS: My first ever "What Happened Recently" post was coincidentally published at the beginning of Ramadhan two years ago.

Had the BEST lamb chop I ever had in my life at Hotel Maya in Kuala Lumpur. (Oops I mean second best, sorry Shah, please still make me your lamb chop.) The side dishes and its sauce were not to my liking though but oh God I'm salivating just thinking about how the tender meat cut almost like butter! (Only virtually salivating, it's Ramadhan after all.)
My red blood count has been a little lower than normal so I was advised by a doctor to consume more iron-filled food. While I've been amping up my pumpkin seeds and greens intake, it's nice to have a good excuse to eat red meat and shellfishes too, I'll be honest!

OK, so this is a huge one: I just got my own car! And not just any car too, it is my dream tiny red Beetle car! It's just so adorable that I've asked Shah if we could do a photoshoot with the car as my background — while it's still brand-new — and he actually seems on board with the (somewhat ridiculous and hilarious but hopefully not narcissistic) idea, so let's see if this plan materialise...

Watched A Quiet Place and I loved loved LOVED it — amazing acting by the stars (especially Emily Blunt!) and fantastic directing by John Krasinski. I can't remember the last time I shed tears in the movies before watching this.

Finished the first season of the rebooted Queer Eye on Netflix and now I CANNOT wait for season two. I adore all members of the new Fab 5 but I think I have a tiny mild crush on Tan, is that weird?

So what's been happening with you?
Ramadhan Mubarak to you!
ReplyDeleteYour dream car sounds AMAZING. Congrats on that :)
Thank you so much for the wish, Katia <3 So grateful for my lil car too!
DeleteI really enjoyed the format of this post. It's always fun to know more about you Liyana! I hope that all of your Ramadan observations are inspirational and uplifting for you. I didn't know about suhur so I'm glad to learn about it and now understand how this can make fasting far less difficult.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to hear about your new car plan!! My very first car was an orange Volkswagen bug and I think you're referring to that same model??? Photos of you in you new car will be so much fun!! Love, Jude
Yes, sahur (or suhur) definitely eases the challenges of fasting! But for me, and for many Muslims, it's not just about the eating; there were times when I accidentally missed sahur and the fasting that followed just didn't feel "complete", if that makes sense, as sahur is also considered part of the whole religious observance.
DeleteAlso, YES I think by "bug" you were referring to the Beetle! Believe it or not, the reason I like the car in the first place was because of the older model which I thought was classic and beautiful, which must have been what you had (and an orange one too, must have been a beaute!). They've "updated" the design but if I could have the older models, I really absolutely would. I'm now excited to do the photoshoot, yay!
Girl, congrats on your Beetle car and omg it's so fun that it is in RED! You know what, I love the car shape as well, I think it's so classic and I hope you get to do the shoot with the beautiful vehicle. I love lamb chop! And wanna have it but at the moment, my stomach is not hundred percent so I have to extra gentle with it. And it's hard because I love food! LOL. I love this series of yours and I hope you will continue writing little tidbits about yourself as they are fun to read. Happy fasting to you stunning woman! <3
ReplyDeleteI'm always pleased to find another Beetle lover, as not everyone around me is enthusiastic about the car. (Probably because it is a liiiiitle bit impractical, but it's just adorable to me.) I still haven't gotten around to "photoshooting" around it though, waiting for the right moment!
DeleteThank you for the fasting wish babe <3
PS: Hope you've gotten some lamb chop in your recovered tummy since you commented!
