Let me just say this: puffer jackets, from here onwards till forever, will be my best friends in winter.
Well OK since this lime green puffer jacket — that I've had for years and years — is the only puffer jacket I own, I guess it is officially my best friend every winter. (That is, until I get a new, cuter one in a more classic colour because lime green really is a hard shade to match, guys.)
The jacket may keep me warm but it isn't the most flattering thing ever, something I mentioned when I wore it in Tokyo so I decided to make my outfit more interesting by layering a thinner houndstooth plaid coat underneath, that in turn was layered on top of two Heattech tops.

Yo girl just needs all the protection she can get from the cold, so double everything for me, baybeh! Like, you'd think a hijabi has enough protection from the cold around the head and neck area, wouldn't you? Yeah, nope; a cosy beanie and scarf are complete musts for me.
PS: Another secret winter weapon for me: heat pads, which I'll talk about in a future post!

Aside from puffer jackets, I must say Timberland boots are another "winter best friend" of mine; I used to have a pair in black Timberland boots that served me well for EIGHT great years before the outsoles cracked right before my first trip to Japan back in 2014, but then I found these sweet pink ones on sale in Gotemba Outlet to replace them. ❤

Wearing: Travel For All puffer jacket | H&M houndstooth plaid coat | Uniqlo Ultra Warm & Extra Warm Heattech tops and leggings | Ciaopanic culottes | H&M beanie | H&M gloves | Uniqlo scarf | Lovisa earrings | Backpack from Myeongdong market
Your puffer jacket is super awesome and how can you say that it's hard to style when you ever so effortlessly slayed the whole look in it? I must thank you for showing me the winter there with the trees in the back. Such a beautiful scenery. Please just get those boots already, Liyana! Hahah classic brown boots you can wear all your LIFE! That's GREAT news. Love seeing your sweet smile here as you wandered in the snow. And...I would like to steal your earrings. :p
ReplyDeleteWell I have to admit, I've worn this puffer many times and this is the best it has looked, but I think it's due to the plaid coat underneath. Otherwise it looks like I'm one big puff of green something!
DeleteNow that you're telling me to get them I reeeally think I must get those brown boots. I saw a pair in JD Sports in Sunway Pyramid (do you maybe live nearby the area?) the other day but I forgot to check the cost. Timberland boots are not exactly known to be cheap, are they? :_) Hopefully when I get a pair they will last me as long as my previous 8-year-old black ones did!
And by the way I LOVE THOSE EARRINGSSS so happy you noticed them. I thought I might like to do an outfit centred around them one day, that's how much I like them (and didn't really highlight them in this post).
This down parka in celery green is GREAT!!! It's funny but I never expected to see you bundled up against the cold Liyana! The green may be difficult to match but it's such a unique color! Likewise, your pink Timberlands are so much more interesting than other more typical colors. I think you are happily defying the chilly temperatures in these spring colors and I'm loving that feisty attitude. Puff on my friend!!
ReplyDeleteLove, Jude
Is it because I'm always throwing the words "hot" and "humid" around here? =D I was just really happy to be experiencing snow again! If I ever get to visit you one day Judy hopefully it'll be around snow time and Shah and I would spend time rolling down those snowy grounds of yours!
DeleteI love the practicality of this green puffer jacket (and the affordability, bought it on sale!) but would love to have one in a natural colour AND a size bigger (this one is a little snug around my bottom area had I buttonned the whole thing up, if you noticed, I only zipped the inner part of the jacket). I wonder if red would be a good colour to have, or is it too much? (I guess I see red as "natural".) What do you think, Judy? Or perhaps a good brown or black, hmmmmmmm.
I think this green with the pink boots is perfection!!! I don't know if the "puff" of your jacket is goosedown or not but I recommend down filled coats without reservation!!! If you foresee spending more time in colder climates it is well worth the investment!!! I couldn't love your cute pink boots more! SO much more "you" than the typical yellow-brown version! Love,Jude
DeleteOh my God I actually considered getting the classic yellow-brown Timberlands, in fact I saw a pair in a nearby outlet but true story: I studied the boots and went to different shops to decide whether I really should buy them, and one hour later or so I went into the shop, ready to purchase, just to find out those were the last pair and someone else had gotten them! I really wanted another pair in a more neutral colour though so I ended up getting the boots in cream/light brown, which I love.
DeleteI actually have NO IDEA if it is goosedown - there are other kinds of "filling" too, right? Most down jackets I see are too puffy so if I see one I like that's good quality, affordable, and in a neutral colour I would definitely consider buying (and hopefully I would remember to ask what kind of filling it is in those "puffs"). That being said I don't even know when I would get to experience winter again!
