I usually wear my abayas as is, so it's a pleasant surprise even to myself when I saw how well this modern cape blazer matched this traditional abaya dress (the abaya was my Eid Al-Adha outfit in 2016). This abaya may be studded but it's still relatively simple, so I'm loving how a lot cooler and more dramatic the whole pairing became — very fitting for my birthday outfit.
(Oh, yes, I'm just going to casually announce that I celebrated my 32nd birthday ten days ago. No biggie.)
I really thought my first time wearing it would be to a fancy dinner or symphony orchestra or something, with maybe sleek pants and chunky heels but, nope; it was to be after attending an afternoon wedding and before I had (birthday) pancakes and (birthday) truffle fries for tea (my kind of tea anyway) at a favourite restaurant.
As cool as cape blazers go though, I definitely have to give some of the credit to this leopard-print scarf which is one of my ALL-TIME favourites, and also: that little pyramid bag definitely doesn't get as much use as it deserves, really.

Hope you like my birthday outfit!
PS: The glen plaid blazer + burgundy boots = my evening birthday outfit!
By the way: do you guys notice my new blog look? I love it and worked on the design for some time, so I hope you guys like it ❤

This dress is a beauty! I looked back at your 2016 post and loved the way you styled it there as well. The way that the embellishments are applied in a pattern on the bodice is so pretty. This was a great choice for your 32nd birthday. Love, Jude
ReplyDeleteI hope that it was a lovely and festive occasion! I'm guessing that pancakes and truffle fries (?) are a couple of favorite foods. What fo you put on top of your pancakes?? I. I have a great love of maple syrup and pancakes are a great reason to indulge in a generous pouring! :-):-)
My family and Shah made my birthday extra special for me this year and I felt very lucky indeed!
DeleteI love pancakes and truffle fries! I usually wouldn't eat them together but at this particular restaurant, I combine them every time I go there.
I loveee maple syrup too, my dad used to travel to Canada a lot and he used to bring back tins of pure Canadian maple syrup, they were SO GOOD.
If I make pancakes at home, I'd top them off with just butter and maple syrup. I'd slather wayyy too much butter and pour more maple syrup than advisable and would have a great meal that way! At the restaurant though they have all these "gourmet" pancakes, so I had the one with salted caramel, chocolate and banana, and it was really good, mmm.
Happy belated birthday, girl! You slayed it in your outfit. And that pyramid bag is a beauty. I'm always so inspired looking at your OOTDs - always so expertly styled! Love the pop of leopard and you are killing it in this stunning abaya :O
ReplyDeleteThank you for the wish, Shanaz! Very happy that you like this outfit! I never imagined to "style up" abayas but now it has opened up a whole world of (style) possibilities! I must have been inspired by your styling of the baju kurung bottom =)
