Honestly, three years ago, if you show a picture of someone wearing this long of a sweater dress with a maxi skirt, I would think it's the Weirdest. Thing. EVER.
Now? Um, kind of uhbsessed with its supersweater length.
It's just amazing how much things can change in a few years, because now it seems as if I treat Proportions like a playground sometimes: I know it involves a lot of playing around (and testing the boundaries around danger), and it's an area of a whole lotta fun.
I blame Tokyo street style for getting me into this fantasy game, really...
I'm not totally unaware of others looking at these pics now and thinking what I thought years ago, but my approach to that is I tell myself these two things:
1. I'm all, like, comparatively super ahead of time, or,
2. I'm crazy / delusional.
I mean - hey, whatever rocks each of our style boat, amiright?
If your boat is silently still (which is to say, you're currently judging this outfit in quiet disbelief), I hope it's OK that I plan to stick with this grey piece, and to continue matching it with maxi skirts and palazzo pants and whatnots - all the while hoping you'd change your mind about it some day! (And in the meantime, I'll just continue to repeatedly say to myself things number 1 and 2 from the above in the process, for my own peace of mind...).

Your gigantic jumper is nothing short of WONDERFUL...I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteIn fact, I want one...off to have a look in Monki.
I love the way you have styled it in such a fun way with the addition of your lips scarf.
Fabulous!

Thank you Samantha! It's super cosy, too.
DeleteI hope you find the top; it was on sale when I bought it, and hopefully it's still available in stores or online or somewhere!
It's going to be so much fun seeing all of the varied clothing you choose to peak out of the bottom of this great grey sweater dress. It becomes a great blank canvas for experimental fashion stylings. Will you consider fun belts as well?
ReplyDeleteJudy, I've actually tried this sweater with a wide printed waist belt! I think it's appropriate to use great minds think alike right now =D It looks pretty cool with the belt, too. And I like that you call it a 'great blank canvas', because how true that is!
