I'm a gal who first and foremost dresses for herself and for her husband second, but when I was getting ready to go to the Mercedes AMG x Petronas' drivers meet-and-great (Note: Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are baes), I really wanted to look as cute - I mean, as presentable as possible, because I always like to look presentable, of course.
This outfit was really not what I had in mind. I mean, I think I still look nice and all (and comfortable for sure) but if I could have a do-over, I think I'd be in something a little fancier, but yet still casual - you know what I mean? But I had about one hour to get dressed, put makeup on, drive to the train station, and take the train to KLCC, so you can imagine the rush I was in.
But in the end it didn't matter what I wore, because:
1) Shah and I were waiting in line for about an hour when they decided they were done and waved byebye (no hard feelings though; it must be pretty boring to meet and greet a hundred people and pretend to enjoy meeting and greeting Every. Single. Person) so we didn't get to see them in person, but we did have fun watching them race that weekend!
PS: Check out my Formula 1 Sepang outfits for Day 1 and Day 2.
2) On top of me feeling like I look nice and felt totes comfy, Shah thought I looked really cute, and, well, I like looking cute for my husband and all, because I'm normal like that.
I love how the floral t-shirt and the sneakers match although I bought them a whole year apart, which means they couldn't have been from the same collection, right? This denim jacket (last worn here; apparently I like matching it with my pink Bao Bao!) is possibly my most favourite one EVAH but I try not to wear it too often since I worry it would look worn too soon, so it's always a personal treat to wear it! (I can't be the only person who "treats" herself this way, right?)
Since split-side skirt isn't ideal for a hijabi, I layered these striped draped pants underneath it, which gave a peekaboo effect.
So what are you guys up to this weekend? I have two things in my plan but then I could also end up lazing away the entire two days, who knows...

I think you look BAM BAM POW, Liyana!! I really do, and I have to applaud you for being able to handle all those layers in sweltering Malaysia. I'm here, in a barely there tee shirt and capris, and dying.
ReplyDeletep/s My weekly Project Sister Act Link-Up is now live on the blog, and I’d love for you to come by and join in xoxo
I usually stay outside long enough to get a few decent photos taken, then I dart very VERY fast into my air-conditioned car or a cool shop / restaurant / cafe / mall, hahaha! But I have to admit, compared to other people here, I do handle layers relatively well. I probably "trained" myself to do so, just for style... It's still hot where you live? I heard summer hasn't left some states there!
DeleteThe two pieces that stand out here for me are your handbag and your shoes.
ReplyDeleteYour hand bag is clearly VERY unique and also looks quite roomyand a good choice for holding a few "waiting in line snacks." Love the color and the spider web pattern.
Your shoes are so cute and whimsical and remind me of little girls shoes. They're really charming Liyana.
You two are really into your car racing and racers. It's so important to have those common interests. I really admire you both for taking the disappointment of not getting to meet your racing celebs in stride.
Hey girl!! Start wearing that Jean jacket. This is one item of clothing that needs to gather some wear and tear of a life well lived!! YOU need to be "responsible" for some of that weathered look!!
I know, right? I guess it's like the thing where you "live every day like it's your last day" kind of thing - except we're talking about wearing our favourite pieces of clothing, I guess...? I'm not good at metaphors apparently, hmmm.
DeleteWell, we did get to the drivers NOT on the TV screen, so that's something! The meet-and-greet was scheduled to be around 5-6pm but apparently people were already waiting by 1.30pm, so even though we did wait for quite a bit, it wasn't that outrageous that we didn't get to the front of the line. Shah and I did have fun waiting in line together, so it wasn't completely a waste of time!
By the way, I didn't carry any snack in that bag, but I totally should have, shouldn't I? =)
