I don't know if you guys know this but I love Tim Burton. I really, really do.
Oh, by the way - I'm just gonna say this real casually - I've met him.
I can't really tell if it is him that I love or his work, but since I never got the opportunity to get to know him, I guess we can all safely assume it's his work. I grew up watching his movies and I still continue to get excited to watch any new movie that he's a part of.
On that note, Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children - which Tim Burton directed - is coming out THIS THURSDAY so I'm super stoked to watch it!!!
(If you can't tell how stoked I am, I don't usually use three exclamation marks in my blog, so that really says something.)
Coming back to this outfit, the striped pants came back into the style scene a few years ago and people were embracing the trend which is so good, but in all honesty the only reason I was gravitating naturally towards vertically-striped pants is Tim Burton - or to be more precise, there are two reasons: Beetlejuice (which Tim Burton directed) and Jack Skellington (Tim Burton was one of the writers for The Nightmare Before Christmas).
These black-and-white striped pants are so synonymous with Beetlejuice though, so I was totally feeling like Mrs. Beetlejuice on the day I had these pants + black derby shoes on.
Note: If you know where I can get an affordable matching blazer to go with these pants, LET ME KNOW ASAP.
Lending some sweet, girl-power feminine vibes to my whole outfit by wearing this Selena Gomez's 'Revival' tour t-shirt - which, interesting story, is actually Shah's t-shirt and not mine; he's a fan of her songs and my sister is a self-proclaimed "Selenator" so they had gone to her concert together a couple of months ago in Malaysia - and I'm glad he got a t-shirt out of it that perfectly matches my pants!
PS: Check out my favourite Beetlejuice t-shirt in action in Denim jeans Phase and Sneakers Love!
First..Tim Burton.... Everything he touches is magic!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE his work...(Soooooooooo envious of you meeting him)
The new film is hotly awaited by my youngest two ( and their mum).
Second.... This outfit is perfect!
The patent derby shoes.
The striped trousers.
Your Tee, scarf, bag, jacket....I want it all.
Great styling.

Ah, another Tim Burton fan!!! What a pleasure to know that about you! I'm watching the movie tonight and I'm pretty excited. I really hope it's going to as amazing as the trailer!
DeleteThank you, I'm glad you approve of the outfit. I really want a matching blazer (my brother thinks I'm nuts for this) so if you see any good affordable one online or in any major high-street store, please, let me know! XO
I love knowing that you're a Tim Burton fan. He is certainly a very talented artist who really thinks way outside the box!
ReplyDeleteI think your black and white stripey pants are totally cool. What about combining them with your blazer with the faux leather sleeves!!!
I'll be keeping my eyes open for a striped blazer. Would small polka dots be a fun pattern mix for a hijab?
He really is, isn't he?
DeleteI'm delighted you know about my faux-leather-sleeved blazer! And you're right, it WOULD go well with these pants, thank you, Judy! I can't remember the last time I wore it, because the sleeves can get quite hot - but anything for style, eh? Hahaha!
I do love me some polka dots (and sometimes loads of them, all at once!). I actually do own a polka dot blazer, which I haven't worn in a while, too.
