Do you know there's this 12-feet tall "I LOVE KL" sign in Kuala Lumpur? So, I hadn't visited it, which is not at all embarrassing, since this situation is totally just like how Parisians don't ever bother going up the Eiffel Tower, right? I thought it was finally time for Shah and I to check out the sign and get a few photos with it—or, more accurately, for him to snap a bunch of photos of me with the sign.
The sign is right next to Dataran Merdeka, or the Merdeka Square, or Independence Square when translated literally; it was the very special venue where Malaysia's flag was raised for the first time in the year 1957 after we regained independence. The current flag pole that's proudly hoisting the Malaysia flag in the square is at least 95 metres high, which makes it one of the tallest in the world, if not the tallest!
I've always had a soft spot for the square because I find it to be one of the prettier places in the bustling city of KL with the beautiful Sultan Abdul Samad building adjacent to it, but my favourite building in the area is actually the striped National Textile Museum, which always reminds me of 'Where's Waldo?'!
It was a very cloudy, windy day so it felt relatively cool for Kuala Lumpur—perfect day for Shah and I to just chill in the square before dinner time.

By the way, if you're wondering where my photo with the "I LOVE KL" sign is: tourists were swarming the sign when Shah and I got there, so I thought it was best to let them have their moment with it. If we didn't live 20 minutes away from it, I'd definitely be one of the swarmers myself, but there's always next time! Maybe we'll even visit the inside of the textile museum then?
Trust you to identify a "Where's Waldo" moment amidst the chaotic scene that is KL!!! And may I tell you just how much I am loving your new site look??? xoxo
ReplyDeleteHahaha, but I can't be the only one, though.
