My eyes tend to stray to bright colours when I'm out shopping so I've got to say, something is in the spring-summer water here in Tokyo because everything that I've added to my closet is either black or white. A bit of a puzzler, really...
In my welcome-myself-to-Tokyo post I talked about not bringing as many clothes as I'm used to when I'm travelling. So far I have to say it's been quite the source of frustration of my daily life here in Tokyo; I find myself getting dissatisfied with my outfit choices time and time again..
I always take the longest time to get ready with the outfit choices I have back at home but at least, most of the times, I'm happy with the outcome. Here, though, I'd be putting the finishing touches in no time at all, look at myself in the mirror and go, "Great, I look boring AND weird. AGAIN."
I've bought some stuff to add to my options but I must say, as a lover of bright colours, I can't quite figure out why all the things that caught my eyes are either black, white or shades of grey. But, you know what, it's OK, really, but I've gotten some staples that I've been coveting for a while, like:

But, you know what, it's OK, really, but I've gotten some staples that I've been coveting for a while, like:
- A pair of high-waisted pants that rests a little lower than my actual waist, which is good, as my shorter upper body is not proportionate to my long legs
- Black jumpsuit (almost identical to this colourful jumpsuit!)
- Long blazer-like jacket from H&M that I found Refinery29's H&M under $100 list, EXCEPT the one I got wasn't from H&M but was actually from Bershka
- Black sneakers; didn't realise how darn hard it would be to match all my outfits to either my tan cut-out boots or red loafers, which are what I brought from home
- Kate Spade "Hello Tokyo" clutch (which has splashes of colours!) and piano clutch—both of which I loved but were too expensive, but now they're on sale here!
- The clapboard clutch I wanted since my second trip here, and I FINALLY OWN IT (note: clapboard, or clapperboard, is the thing used for "Action" and "Cut" actions in film-making)
Black or white, or even grey, but, hey, I did compensate with the cutest, brightest yellow coin purse from Coach!
Those clutches are the absolute cat's pajamas!!
ReplyDeleteI was just smiling really wide to myself as I unpacked them =D
