There's a part of me that's still going, "Wait. A. Minute. I'm in Japan? Really? Really?". It's a very familiar sentiment because I had experienced the exact same thing when I arrived in Paris in October 2012.
I felt out of place at first, seeing the local people walking around and thinking how I look nothing like them, with me in my hijab and in the way I dress. But then I'm six days in in Tokyo and I have the same feeling as I had a week after settling in Paris: I already feel at home.
First Paris + Europe, and now I'm in one of the most fashionable cities in Asia—if not the most fashionable city (is that the wrath of K-Pop enthusiasts I feel? Scarily chilly...).
Shah and I took a train to Shibuya, walked around aimlessly for the fun of it and strolled into these brightly-lit streets. We can't read or speak Japanese so it is entirely possible for us to walk into a dodgy part of Tokyo, but I'm guessing it's always OK to trust where the crowd goes (right? Um , is it OK, right?).

These pachinko stores are EVERYWHERE. Did you learn about Pachinko from Long Vacation as well? Can't say I don't daydream about bumping into Takuya Kimura on the streets...
Tokyo looks amazing! I feel like I would be overwhelmed by how many people there are.. I can barely deal with London lol. Great outfit, love the bag!
ReplyDeleteI've been to London before and I LOVED it there. Tokyo has a much bigger population than London and I must say, it definitely shows!
DeleteIt is SO HARD to dress in cold weather, when you grow up in such a hot and humid country. I wish I have more choices of cute jackets...
I wanted to go to Tokyo since i was a kid!
ReplyDeleteGreat photography :D
