I really enjoy trying out new lipsticks but it's something else when I come across a shade that turns out to be my 'absolute favourite' for a long while.
I don't remember when I bought this lipstick but I was wearing it in my post Do the Palazzo, dated 25 February this year, so it must have been early this year. It wasn't love at first use but I found myself reaching for this lipstick more and more; in fact, I've decided to call it my MLBB even though my natural lip colour is nothing like it!
Not to say that Avon's Cherry Rush is a 100% perfection, though.
I'm not the best at describing colours but I'm going to attempt it here anyway and say Cherry Rush is a strong red with a splash of deep purple hue in it. Like a berry red, if that makes sense.
One important note: if you love matte lipsticks, the sheeny Cherry Rush isn't for you.
Let's discuss the good and the bad here:
The Good
- Amazing and flattering colour
- Very pigmented
- Moisturising
- For a nice lipstick, it's cheap!
The Bad
- Isn't completely opaque; the darker rim on my lips isn't completely covered (but the coverage is still good enough)
- Bleeds out; probably due to its somewhat wet consistency so a good lip pencil is necessary. Its perfect match has to be Avon Ultra Luxury Lip Liner in Wild Berry
After application:
The colour of Cherry Rush appear different in various lightings so here are a few pics of me wearing it (#carselfies included). The photo that most accurately shows the colour that I see when I look in the mirror in natural lighting is probably the top left one.
I'm not a fan of the strong lipstick + glasses combo (it never has looked good on me—why is that?) but I must say, Cherry Rush is a game-changer for me as I'm kind of loving the way I look in the photo above.

I purchased two colours from this range: Cherry Rush and Berry Berry Nice (the shade that's in one of Irina Shayk's Avon ads). I thought I was going to like Berry Berry Nice a lot more than Cherry Rush but I was wrong.

Question: Does anyone else think the names should be the other way around? Cherries are always red whereas purple hues would come to mind when people mention 'berry', right?
I would recommend you trying out this Avon range on the basis that Avon is super affordable. Plus, for the prices they offer, their products are surprisingly good stuff!
Are you a fan of Avon make up products as I am, or do you still imagine Avon as the 'mothers and aunties only' club?
If it's the latter, I don't blame you because that was my idea of Avon too—that is, until the Pixiwoo sisters introduced me to Avon, so thanks a merry bunch to Sam and Nic!
Would you wear this shade yourself?
